The Parent Action Group managed the contract to clean up the stands and surrounds at Mt Smart Stadium - after the Warriors Rugby League games - for a number of years, until 2008.
"The cleanups are for any student groups, with parent/adult supervision, to raise funds for school-related projects. This is an excellent fund-raising opportunity that does not draw on funds from the immediate school community and it is a quick way to earn a large sum of money. A full cleanup requires that 45 workers in total (including at least 15 adults) arrive punctually at Mt Smart Stadium at a specified time and complete the cleanup under the guidance of the PAG organiser and experienced cleaners.
With a half-capacity crowd, the job can be done in one-and-a-half hours with 30 people – if the Warriors are winning, crowds swell to 24,000 and this takes well over two hours with over forty people – it's a hard job and relies on hardworking PAG members with helpful parent, Board, staff and student volunteers."
