Goal One
To attain the highest academic, cultural and sporting standards of student achievement

This will be achieved by:

a)

improving academic results at all levels

b) improving academic results for Maori students at all levels
c) improving Pacific student leavers’ qualifications
d) improving boys’ achievement at all levels
e) catering for the needs of gifted, talented and very able students
f) reviewing and strengthening careers education

Goal Two
To provide quality teaching across all curriculum areas

This will be achieved by:

a)

providing learning experiences which enable students to develop the competencies and dispositions of independent lifelong learners

b)

using assessment data to inform teaching and learning strategies

c)

improving teaching practice through appraisal processes oriented towards the use of effective pedagogies

d)

using the language of the Key Competencies in reporting

Goal Three
To develop a safe, inclusive staff teaching and student learning environment

This will be achieved by:

a)

provide the training and opportunities to develop student leaders’ skills and facilitate their contribution to the school and wider community

b)

strengthen student participation in the ongoing development of a safe and healthy school culture

c)

raising awareness and developing ownership of WSC Safe School philosophies, policies and practices

Goal Four
To provide a learning environment enhanced by up-to-date educational facilities and services

This will be achieved by:

a)

providing students and staff with modernised teaching and learning facilities

b)

bring grounds conditions up to an acceptable standard

c)

embedding sustainability practices

Goal Five
To strengthen school-home and school-community partnerships

This will be achieved by:

a)

ensuring informative and timely school-home communication

b)

working in partnership with parent groups

c)

maintaining WSC as the first choice school for a majority of local families

d)

encouraging community pride in the performance of the local college

e)

developing international educational and cultural links in the global community
