Western Springs College aims to produce independent, disciplined and motivated learners who are equipped to succeed academically at tertiary level. We measure our effectiveness in reaching this goal by the proportion of our students who leave school with qualifications, especially the percentage who achieve University Entrance standards. At Springs, there is a genuine commitment to nurturing the unique talents and strengths of individual students. We have developed a school climate which encourages individuality, creativity and critical thinking. We see ourselves as being in the business of producing strong, self-disciplined individuals who have been challenged to think for themselves, and who have learned the skills of conducting independent research, devising innovative solutions to problems and communicating their well informed views clearly and confidently.
Another key feature of a Western Springs College education is our concern to develop well-rounded young adults with sound values, including, above all, self respect and respect for others. A balanced education at Springs involves developing the ability to establish healthy relationships with others and being at ease living and working with people from the diverse range of backgrounds which is Auckland today.
For parents, membership of our school community will mean ready access to, and direct communication with, relevant staff and the chance to belong to a very active and supportive parent network with clear links to senior staff and members of the Board of Trustees.
